Lotus Project Youth Advocacy Network
In order to incorporate youth voices and input, the Lotus Project Youth Advocacy Network serves as a safe space for youth to get involved in advocacy efforts for AAAI mental health issues. The Youth Advocacy Network’s purpose is to bring together youth to raise awareness about mental health and trauma, and advocate for policies and strategies to improve mental health outcomes for AAAI communities. The network is led and organized by the youth advocacy interns. Youth from all racial/ethnic backgrounds are welcomed and encouraged to join.
The Youth Advocacy Network’s goals are to:
Promote collaboration among AAAI youth from different student organizations, school clubs, and school districts that result in youth led projects that address AAAI mental health issues and trauma.
Facilitate the exchange of ideas, information, and resources among our youth network members, which they can bring back to their communities and incorporate into the planning and development of their own mental health projects.
Inform the Lotus Project about current mental health issues and needs of AAAI youth populations in order to develop relevant trainings and resource materials for mental health professionals and school administrators/staff.
